Instrumented walking aids to measure compensatory forces
Three different walking aids instrumented with force sensors enable the assessment of compensatory forces during walking. Although highly relevant, compensatory forces are only rarely assessed in movement analysis. Force data are transmitted to a remote receiver by wireless technology, allowing for a mobile use of the walking aids. The devices are ideally suited to measure functional recovery of subjects with different degrees of gait impairments (i.e. after surgery).
Instrumented crutches
Two crutches with integrated force sensors at their ending can be used to assess compensatory forces of patients over time
Instrumented walking frame
A walking frame is instrumented with two force sensors measuring applied forces by the left and right arm.
Instrumented Eulenburg device
An Eulenburg device is instrumented with a force sensor measuring the applied forces by the arms / upper body on the device
